Dr. Sujal Patel

Dr. Patel loves that dentistry seamlessly blends art and science. However, what he loves most is that being a dentist near Addison allows him to help patients in the area improve their confidence, oral health, and overall well-being! This passion (as well as his commitment to personalized, ethical, and reliable care) are a few of the many reasons our patients trust him with all of their dental needs and smile goals.

As for Dr. Patel’s studies, he first attended Manubhai Patel Dental College in India, which is where he earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). After working as a clinician and lecturer for a few years, he came to the USA and enrolled at the University of Findlay. Once he obtained his MBA in Healthcare Management, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery at New York University.

Over the last decade, much of Dr. Patel’s life in and outside of the office has been dedicated to dentistry. In addition to completing continuing education each year, he is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and several others. With that said, one of his favorite ways to spend his free time is with his family. He also has lots of interests outside of dentistry, including sports and traveling!

Frequently Asked Questions

When it comes to finding a dentist near Addison, you deserve the best. Part of this process not only includes researching the various services provided but also how certain dental offices operate. If you’re like many patients, you likely have multiple questions. Dr. Patel and our team at Coco Dental are here to provide the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions from prospective and current patients, so feel free to review the information below and call us when you’re ready to schedule an appointment.

What is the best way to find a dentist who does dental implants?

When looking to replace your missing teeth, dental implants are a great way to achieve a healthy, complete, and functional smile. But it’s important that you do your homework before deciding who you want to place your new teeth. You must decide if you want to work with a team that handles the placement and restoration or just the latter.

Periodontists, oral surgeons, and prosthodontists are the three types of specialists who offer dental implant placement, but at Coco Dental, Dr. Patel possesses the advanced training and technology to complete the entire process in-house. As a result, you can feel more confident knowing that your new smile with dental implants is in good hands.

What do you do if you can’t afford a dentist?

Prevention is essential if you want to avoid costlier procedures and treatments. This is why it’s essential that you find a dentist who offers accessible services that you can afford. With dental insurance, preventive services are often covered at 80-100%, and restorative services can be covered between 50-80%. But if you are unable to afford a private dental insurance plan, you might assume you’ll need to forgo regular oral healthcare altogether.

Thankfully, this is not true. Many dental offices offer partnerships with third-party financiers who offer flexible financing so that you can pay for your treatment over time. Others also provide in-house membership plans to make it easy to receive both necessary and elective treatment. At Coco Dental, Dr. Patel provides financing with the help of CareCredit.

What level of education is required to be a dentist?

When choosing to practice in the United States, all dentists must have a Doctor of Dental Medicine or Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from one of the 67 accredited dental schools in the U.S. To be accepted into a dental school, you must have a bachelor’s degree with high grades in both math and science. Since dental school is typically three years, it requires a combination of both classroom and hands-on learning.

After completing a dental degree, you have the option of pursuing additional education in pursuit of a specialization (i.e., prosthodontics, periodontics, pedodontics, orthodontics, etc.). Currently, the American Dental Association recognizes 12 specializations that require an additional three years of school.

To maintain licensure, you must complete a designated number of continuing education hours each year.

How do I get emergency dental care?

If you need emergency dental care for a knocked-out tooth, chip or cracked tooth, or even a lost dental crown, it’s important that you start by calling your dentist’s office. If you’ve fractured your jaw or are experiencing excessive bleeding or swelling, call 911 and get to your local emergency room right away.

Once you are in your dentist’s office, though, they will begin to quickly look at your mouth and develop a treatment plan to address the issue. In most cases, dentists can get you in on the same day; however, each situation is different.

Dr. Patel is an emergency dentist near Addison who works quickly to get patients in as soon as possible and help them out of pain.
